Using Analytics Without Chasing Every Number
By Jon Bell — 10th February, 2026Analytics are helpful when they answer a real decision. They become distracting when every number looks equally important.
For a small business site, begin with three questions. Are the right people finding the site? Are they visiting the pages that explain the offer? Are they taking the next step?
Those questions map to simple metrics: traffic sources, service page views, inquiry form submissions, booking clicks, or newsletter signups. Review trends over time instead of reacting to single-day spikes.
The point of analytics is not to make the dashboard prettier. It is to help you decide what to improve next.
